Technivorm's Moccamaster KM5 user manual, its grind guide. Read September 03, 2026.
Technivorm prints seven bands, and two of them are drip: "Medium Drip" at 3-4 and "Moccamaster" at 5-6. Only the second is used here, because a Moccamaster is a batch brewer and that band is the one the maker drew for it — the same manual calls setting 5 the ECBC-approved one.
"Medium Drip" and "Medium-Fine Drip" are left out rather than folded into a method they might not mean. Three bands competing for one row on this site is a reason to publish the unambiguous one, not to average them.
The settings are already in dial numbers, and the coarsest band reaching 9 matches an independently published axis for this model.

5 of these 15 settings are Moccamaster's own published figures. The rest are worked out from this grinder's range. Start there and adjust to taste.

Is the Moccamaster KM5 a manual or electric grinder?
The Moccamaster KM5 is an electric grinder with 50 mm flat burrs.
How much does each click change the grind on the Moccamaster KM5?
Each click on the Moccamaster KM5 changes the grind by about 155 microns, so you can dial in small steps.
What grind sizes can the Moccamaster KM5 produce?
At its coarsest the Moccamaster KM5 reaches about 1395 µm, covering 15 of the brew methods we chart. Its finest setting isn't published, so we don't state one.
Can I copy grind settings from another grinder to the Moccamaster KM5?
Not directly — every grinder's scale is arbitrary, so a number that works on one model won't match the Moccamaster KM5. Match the micron range instead, using the chart above.
