Baratza's Encore manual, its "Suggested Setting" row. Read September 03, 2026.
Baratza publishes single starting points rather than windows, and these are them, verbatim: espresso 8, AeroPress 12, Hario V60 15, automatic brewer 18, Chemex 20, French press 28.
Five of the six windows this page carried before did contain the manual's number. Espresso did not — the manual says 8 and this page said 3-5, under Baratza's own name. Turkish and cold brew appeared nowhere in the manual and have been dropped rather than left asserting a maker's word the maker never gave; they are modelled now, and the page says so.
The same manual settles the dial in words — the settings "go from very coarse (grind setting 40) to very fine (grind setting 1)" — which is why 40 is the number used here rather than an assumption.
Methods the Baratza Encore covers
6 of these 19 settings are Baratza's own published figures. The rest are worked out from this grinder's range. Start there and adjust to taste.
