Lintong

Lintong sits south of Lake Toba in North Sumatra and is the classic reference for the heavy-bodied Sumatran profile. It is smaller and lower-profile than Gayo, and the holdings are tiny — often a few hundred trees among other crops.

Wet hulling is universal here, and the coffee is typically handled by several intermediaries between the farm and the exporter, which is why farm-level traceability is rarer in Sumatra than in most origins.

The heaviest body in the Indonesian range: earthy and syrupy, with cedar, leather and dark chocolate, almost no acidity, and a long, thick finish.

Steep highland south of Lake Toba, humid and consistently wet.
